Construction NVQ Grants: All You Need To Know

CST Training offers a wide range of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), particularly for the construction industry. Each of these NVQs is designed to progress the careers of those working, or aiming to work, in construction. If you meet the criteria, you may be eligible for construction NVQ grants of up to £600.

The criteria for these grants is quite simple. If you’re a CITB Levy payer and you’re not behind on your payments, you will likely be eligible. 

Today’s blog will tell you all you need to know about our construction NVQ grants. We’ll also be giving you some insight into a few of our most popular NVQs.

Construction NVQ Grants Explained

One of our construction NVQ grants will pay for the achievement of approved short-period qualifications pertaining to core construction skills. This includes NVQ/SVQs at Level 2 or higher, plant-related VQ achievements, and specific plant-related VQ units. A full list of the included qualifications can be found on the CITB website. 

For each achievement you can apply for up to £600. Per individual, the maximum number of achievements is four at each level. You can only apply once per individual for the same achievement. 

There is also an additional grant when it comes to specific plant-related VQ units. The funding available in this case would be £300. The maximum number of applications per individual is three. 

Who Can Apply for a NVQ Construction Grant? 

To apply for a NVQ construction grant, you must be registered with CITB. You must also be set up to pay the CITB Levy, and be making these payments on time. If you’re not paying the levy on time, you won’t be eligible for the grant. Likewise, if you’re not set up with the CITB levy in the first place, you won’t be eligible. 

The only other criteria for receiving payments is that you’ve provided CITB with your bank details (makes sense!).

Courses Eligible for NVQ Construction Grants

There are a number of courses that are eligible for NVQ construction grants. The following are a couple of our most popular NVQs.

Bricklaying NVQ Level 2

The Bricklaying Level 2 NVQ is aimed at those seeking to further their career in bricklaying. This NVQ will help you to advance your skills and knowledge in bricklaying, and can be completed remotely. 

If you’re willing to provide your assessor with the evidence, your NVQ could be completed within 4 to 8 weeks. 

There are a number of benefits to pursuing, or advancing, a career in bricklaying. One of the most notable of these benefits is the solid, stable pay. 

Demolition NVQ Level 3

Another NVQ available for the grant is the Demolition Level 3 NVQ. The course is aimed at experienced demolition operatives looking to further their profession. Taking the course with CST Training will allow you to complete the NVQ in just 6 weeks.
