What to expect from the Health & Safety
Level 6 NVQ
- Starting The NVQ
To get started you will need to complete our registration form, click here to contact us and receive your registration form.
As a minimum, you will need a copy of your photo ID.
The Qualification can be started on any day and our assessors are able to complete your induction outside of normal working hours. Allowing you a large amount of flexibility.
- During The NVQ
The NVQ is completed using our easy online portfolio system and you will need to complete the steps below. There are no exams, at all.
- A set of knowledge questions
- Gain a witness testimony from your line manager.
- Gather evidence of your work, For example, risk assessments, Safety Audits, COSHH Details, CPD records, meeting minutes and other documentation.
- Write 2 case studies about your day to day role and experience.
- Conduct a professional discussion with your assessor.
- Completing The NVQ
This can be completed in 8 weeks as long as you are prepared to work with your assessor and gather the correct evidence.
Once completed you will receive your Diploma via email.
- NVQ Units

- Promote a positive health and safety culture
- Develop and implement the health and safety policy
- Develop and implement effective communication systems for health and safety information
- Develop and maintain individual and organisational competence in health and safety matters
- Identify, assess and control health and safety risks

- Develop and implement health and safety review systems
- Maintain knowledge of improvements to influence health and safety practice
- CertIOSH Status
Once you have completed this Qualification you will be able to apply for CertIOSH status. This is a great way to enhance your career opportunities.

- What Is a NVQ?
An NVQ is an internationally recognised work-based qualification. It demonstrates to employees that you are skilled and able to perform well in your role.
NVQs are work and practical based qualifications. You will gather workplace evidence and complete knowledge questions to demonstrate your ability.
- What is the process?
– Complete an induction with your assessor
– Gather workplace evidence
– Gain a witness testimony from a competent person
– Complete your knowledge questions
– You may need to complete written case studies (Reflective accounts)
– Complete a professional discussion with your assessor
- What Evidence do I need?
To complete this NVQ you must provide copies of documentation from your workplace. Examples of workplace evidence which you can provide are:

- HS&E plans
- Quality plan

– Plan 2: 50% At The Start of the NVQ & 50% Upon Completion
– Plan 3: 33% At The Start of the NVQ, 33% After 1 Month & 33% Upon Completion of the NVQ
– Plan 4: Interest free finance. We now offer 0% Finance Available Over 10 Months. Split the cost over 10 months. Please ask for more details.
- Grants & Funding
CITB Funding & Grants – Claim up to £1,500 per NVQ Achievement as long as you are a CITB Levy Payer and not behind on your payments. It’s as simple as that. Click here to find out more.
ELCAS Funding – Funding for service personnel and service leavers.
For people with six years of service experience, funding is up to £1,000 per claim instalment. For people with eight years of service experience, funding is up to £2,000 per claim instalment. Click here to find out more.
