Your dedicated NVQ assessor will help you complete:
This can be completed in 4 weeks as long as you are prepared to work with your assessor and gather the correct evidence.
Once completed you will receive your NVQ diploma which is approved by CITB.
An NVQ is an internationally recognised work-based qualification. It demonstrates to employees that you are skilled and able to perform well in your role.
NVQs are work and practical based qualifications. You will gather workplace evidence and complete knowledge questions to demonstrate your ability.
To complete this NVQ you must provide copies of documentation from your work site. Examples of workplace evidence which you can provide are:
Yes, and that is the point. The NVQ is designed to be completed alongside your normal job rather than instead of it.
You will not need time off, and you do not need to attend anything in person. Everything is done remotely through the online portfolio, and the professional discussion with your assessor happens over a video call at a time that suits you.
In practice most candidates spend a few hours a week gathering evidence, much of which is work they are doing anyway. Photographing a wall you have just built, saving a copy of a toolbox talk, or filming a short clip of a task takes minutes.
The one thing you do need is access to a live site and real work to evidence. If you are between jobs, or not currently doing the work the qualification covers, get in touch before booking and we will tell you honestly whether now is the right time.
A witness testimony is a short written statement from someone competent who has seen you do the work, confirming that you carried it out to the required standard. It backs up your own evidence with someone else’s word.
We provide the document. You do not need to write it or find a template. Your assessor sends you the form, explains exactly what needs completing, and tells you which tasks it needs to cover.
Who can sign it: a competent person on your site who has directly observed your work. That is usually your supervisor, foreman, site manager or a qualified colleague in your trade. What matters is that they are competent in the work they are witnessing and have genuinely seen you do it.
It takes them a few minutes. It is not a reference, an appraisal, or a commitment of any kind on their part.
They do not need to be involved beyond that. A common worry is that this puts a burden on an employer or means telling a boss you are doing a qualification. In most cases it is a single form, signed once.
