• What Is It?

  • The NEBOSH HSE Award in Managing Risks and Risk Assessment at Work is a short, introductory qualification designed to help people understand how to assess and control risks in a practical and confident way. Delivered over one day, it is built around the Health and Safety Executive’s recommended approach to managing hazards in the workplace.

    The course provides simple, hands-on risk management skills that go beyond just completing a risk assessment form. Learners will gain the knowledge to identify hazards, judge levels of risk, and put sensible controls in place to protect people and reduce the chance of incidents. It’s an ideal way to upskill staff, strengthen organisational safety standards, and support more effective day-to-day decision making.

• Who Is It For?

  • This qualification is for anyone who has a responsibility for managing health and safety risks in the workplace or who carries out risk assessments as part of their job. It’s particularly suited to employers, managers, supervisors, safety representatives, union reps, SHE champions and others involved in supporting a safer working environment.

• Is Exam Included & How Is It Assessed?

  • The course is assessed through a practical task carried out at the end of the one-day programme. You’ll watch a workplace video and complete a risk assessment based on what you observe, showing how you would identify, prioritise and control the risks. There is no additional cost for this assessment.

    Results are normally released within 24 working days of completing the assessment. After achieving a pass, you’ll receive your official qualification certificate, which is usually issued within around 40 working days of the result being confirmed.
